The following is a list of issues presented by the Issues committee to the Board of Directors at the February 2003 Board Meeting. Links are provided to supplemental materials where provided. Further evidence (in support or opposed to the position) will be posted when received by the Webmaster.

A special meeting of the Board of Directors has been called for March 4, 2003 to discuss the Daschle Tax plan, Iraq Resolution, Patriot Act and 5th Ward School. All are welcome and encouraged to attend or e-mail their views to dpoe@dpoe.org.

National/International

• Support the Tom Daschle Tax Reform Proposal
• No WAR with IRAQ, (in IRAQ, about IRAQ)
• Repeal the Patriot Act I; and defeat in Congress Patriot Act II
• Demand US support the UN world environmental protection programs, as well as restore enforecement power to and replace leadership of FDA, EPA, and USDA to protect the people from industrial produced toxins, air pollution, etc.
• Stop Republican capture of the judiciary by revision of phony questions, and controlled questioning of candidates.
• Stop access to voting machines by computer code alterations and right wind manufacturing sources

Local

• Build an elementary school in the 5th war in Evanston
• Expand Section 8 and low cost housing in Evanston
• State of Illinois should adopt the proposed Green Building Code
• An Evanston Township Home Owners Commission should be formed to address teh loss of ownership due to tax delinquency.
